Verbs are the engine of Czech. Without them, you can point at things — but you cannot say what is happening, what happened, or what will happen next.
These focused 5-lesson packages take you through Czech verbs tense by tense, step by step. Each package is a self-contained unit with a clear entry point, a clear exit point, and real skills you can use the moment a lesson ends.
Package 1 — Czech Verbs: Present Tense
Level: Early beginner (A0–A1) | 5 lessons
The starting point for every Czech learner. In five sessions you will learn the most essential Czech verbs, how they are conjugated in the present tense, and how the cases connected to those verbs work in everyday speech.
After this package you will be able to express what you are doing right now — at home, at work, in a shop, in conversation. You will understand the core patterns that govern Czech verb behaviour and have the confidence to apply them without stopping to think.
Prerequisites: None. This is your first step.
Package 2 — Czech Verbs: Past Tense
Level: Beginner (A1) | 5 lessons
The past tense in Czech behaves differently from English — and differently from most European languages you may know. These five sessions walk you through how Czech past tense is formed, how it changes depending on gender, and how to use it naturally in conversation.
After this package you will be able to talk about what happened — yesterday, last week, before you moved to Czechia. A critical building block for every real conversation.
Prerequisites: Basic Czech knowledge at A1 level, or completion of the Present Tense package.
Package 3 — Czech Verbs: Future Tense
Level: Beginner–Elementary (A1–A2) | 5 lessons
Plans, intentions, possibilities — the future tense unlocks all of them. In these five sessions you will learn how Czech expresses future actions using both imperfective and perfective verb forms, and how to use them correctly in context.
After this package you will be able to make plans, discuss what might happen, and talk about the future with the grammatical accuracy that makes you understood.
Prerequisites: Basic Czech knowledge at A1 level, or completion of the Past Tense package.
How the packages work together
The three packages are designed as a progressive sequence — Present → Past → Future — but each can also be taken independently if you already have the required level. Most learners work through all three across six to eight weeks and leave with a solid grammatical backbone that makes every other aspect of Czech easier.
