About us
Czech Atelier is a boutique online language studio dedicated to one thing: helping non‑native speakers build the Czech they need to live and work well in the Czech Republic. With more than 12 years of experience and over 500 students from 20+ nationalities, Czech Atelier combines academic depth with highly personalised, real‑world teaching.
Meet the founder & teacher
Czech Atelier is led by Magda, a Czech language specialist with a Master’s degree in Czech language and literature. With 12 years of dedicated teaching experience, working with more than 500 students from every continent, supporting professionals, partners and families as they prepare for or adapt to life in Czechia.
We are driven by a genuine interest in people and culture. The Czech language is more than system of rules, but a wonderful expression of people. We teach it as a practical way to make everyday life easier, build relationships and access opportunities that would otherwise stay closed.
Helping someone understand a school email, navigate an office conversation or follow a doctor’s explanation is, a meaningful part of improving that person’s life.
Values that guide every lesson
Czech Atelier is built on a set of principles that shape how programs are designed and how each lesson feels for our clients.
-
Twelve years of teaching Czech to non‑native speakers means patterns repeat: typical challenges, common fears, and what it actually takes to build confidence. We anticipate where learners may get stuck and address it early, before it becomes discouraging.
-
A Master’s degree in Czech language and literature ensures that what you learn is linguistically sound, not improvised on the spot. We take academic knowledge and make it clear with practical guidance that you can use the same day, not abstract theory.
-
No one is having the same experience with Czech. Programs are adapted to you and your life, learning pace and changing circumstances, rather than forcing you into a fixed syllabus. If your job changes, your children start school, or your relocation timeline moves, your Czech program adjusts with you.
-
Curiosity about people, cultures and stories sits at the heart of Czech Atelier. Lessons are not only about verbs and cases, but also about understanding how you think, work and live, so language can connect to your reality rather than staying on a screen.
-
Learning a new language while handling a move, a demanding job or family responsibilities is not simple. Czech Atelier takes this seriously: expectations are ambitious but realistic, and support is structured to respect your time, energy and emotional bandwidth.
An approach built around your life and work
Czech Atelier does not rely on a single textbook or a one‑size‑fits‑all curriculum. Every program is designed around your specific context: the city you are moving to, the type of work you do, the people you live with, and the situations you expect to face in Czech.
In practice, that means you spend your lesson time on language you can immediately use – registering with local authorities, speaking to landlords, talking to teachers, navigating workplace conversations – rather than dialogues that never occur in real life. Grammar and vocabulary are introduced when you actually need them, and reinforced through interactive materials between sessions.
What this feels like as a learner
You recognise your own situations and vocabulary inside the lessons.
You know exactly why you are learning a particular structure at a particular time.
You see direct connections between what you study and what happens in your everyday life and work.
For individuals & for companies
The same philosophy applies whether you are moving on your own, with family, or as part of an international organisation.
For individuals
Moving country is demanding enough without having to guess what to say in everyday situations. Czech Atelier works with individuals and families who want a structured yet flexible way to build Czech for real life – from housing and schools to offices and cafés. Programs are tailored to your timeline, confidence level and goals, so you can move from “hoping someone speaks English” to handling more interactions yourself.
For companies
For employers, language support is a small part of a relocation package that can make a disproportionate difference. Czech Atelier partners with HR and Mobility teams to provide targeted Czech training for assignees, executives and accompanying partners. The emphasis is on practical communication, consistency across learners and clear reporting, so you can see how language training supports integration, productivity and retention.
