How we teach the Czech language

Practical Czech teaching built around your life and relocation

Czech Atelier is built around one principle: teach Czech in the context of your actual life. Every programme is structured around your relocation timeline, your goals and the real situations you will face — not a fixed textbook syllabus.

How to build your language learning

The steps below apply whether you are learning for yourself or organising language support for employees.

Start with your first lesson

Begin learning immediately, no separate discovery call required. We use the first lesson to learn you and your needs, and teach you some core Czech fundamentals.

We shape your program around you

We outline your goals, plans and interests to build a context to our lessons that will keep you engaged and accelerate your learning.

Learn remotely and interactively

We teach online and remotely to offer services wherever you are. Our unique interactive approach means we use materials to keep lessons in your mind during and in between lessons.

All lessons online from anywhere

Your first lesson

You choose your preferred program and book a time directly in the calendar. All first lessons are delivered online via Zoom, so employees and family members can join from wherever they are in the world.

For individuals

In the very first lesson, we combine teaching with a short conversation about your current Czech, your relocation plans, and any specific situations you are worried about – from town‑hall paperwork to workplace small talk.

For companies

For corporate clients, the first session includes a short diagnostic of the employee's current Czech level, a conversation about their role and the nature of their relocation, and a discussion with HR (if required) about reporting and scheduling expectations. Programmes can begin within days of this first contact.

Czech lessons for any language level

  • A0 - FIRST TIMERS

You have a few words and some impressions about the Czech language. We start your learning with the simple and easy to remember items; including critical phrases, pronunciation and the simple grammar rules.

  • A1 - BEGINNERS

You can understand and use very common everyday expressions and basic phrases. At this stage, we introduce you to the fundamentals are use your interests and goals to make learning these simple, interactive and consistent for you to remember and use.

  • A2 - ELEMENTARY

You can handle simple, routine tasks and describe basic aspects of their life. Usually we use lessons to practice and instil the more complex language rules and grammar and train you into the B1 category.

  • B1 - INTERMEDIATE

You can manage most situations when travelling and talk about familiar topics. We use your sessions to train and test the new concepts and more complex rules you may encounter, along with more colloquial Czech mannerisms.

  • B2 - UPPER INTERMEDIATE

You can interact with fluency on a range of subjects and understand more complex texts. We work with you in lessons to improve the grammar and different language skills that can be blocking you from getting to the C1 level.

  • C1 - ADVANCED

Can express ideas fluently and spontaneously and use language flexibly in social, academic and professional contexts. We provide upkeep and improvisation lessons to get you into the C2 level of Czech.

  • C2 - PROFICIENT

You can understand virtually everything heard or read and express themselves very precisely, including subtle shades of meaning. Even at this stage, we can help to lift you further into the language and make it first nature for you.

Shape your lessons

After your first lesson, we refine the structure of your program based on what emerged: your current level, your goals, and the demands of your work and family life. Rather than forcing everyone into a fixed curriculum, Czech Atelier adjusts the emphasis to work with your life and your interests.

For individuals

For individuals and families, that can mean:

  • More focus on housing, schools and daily errands if you are moving with a partner or children.

  • Extra attention to administrative language if you are facing residency, banking or healthcare appointments.

  • A stronger workplace track if you will be using Czech with colleagues or clients.

For companies

For corporate clients, program design can include:

  • Separate tracks for executives, specialists and accompanying partners.

  • Session frequency and scheduling aligned to project start dates and peak work periods.

  • Clear expectations around attendance and milestones, so HR knows what to expect from the training.

Teaching with interactivity

Teaching is built around regular live sessions and focused practice between lessons. Everything is designed to be practical, interactive and anchored in the situations you actually face during relocation.

Some of the tools we use

  • Live lessons on Zoom – structured 1:1 or small‑group sessions with speaking practice and feedback.

  • Google Classroom – a central space for materials and assignments.

  • Interactive tools – Wordwall activities, videos and other exercises to reinforce vocabulary and structures in a more engaging way.

  • Trusted references – official textbooks and curated resources used only where they genuinely support your goals.

For corporate groups, content is adapted to your sector, internal communication style and the mix of nationalities in each cohort, so sessions feel relevant to your organisation rather than generic.

Record and adapt

Life and progress are always changing, so Czech Atelier builds in regular checks so you can see progress and adjust the focus of lessons as your life in Czechia evolves.

For individuals

  • Short check‑ins at key milestones (for example, after 5, 10 or 20 lessons).

  • Qualitative feedback on what is improving, plus what to focus on next.

  • Adjustments as new challenges appear – such as a role change, a new project, or upcoming school meetings

For companies:

  • Structured progress summaries at agreed intervals (for example, mid‑program and at the end) so HR and line managers can see attendance, engagement and level development.

  • Recommendations for next steps – such as extending 1:1 support, adding a partner track, or integrating more workplace‑specific language.
